He has also authored four critical books, most recently \u003cem\u003eThe Colosseum Critical Introduction to Dana Gioia\u003c\/em\u003e (Franciscan U.P., 2020). The others are \u003cem\u003eWordsworth, Turner, and Romantic Landscape, The Gothic Psyche,\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003eThe Poet’s Holy Craft.\u003c\/em\u003e His poems and criticism have appeared in \u003cem\u003eSewanee Review, Poetry Ireland Review, Valparaiso Poetry Review, Amsterdam Quarterly, Commonweal, New York Times Book Review, South Atlantic Quarterly, Wordsworth Circle, Southern Quarterly, African American Review, THINK,\u003c\/em\u003e and \u003cem\u003eGeorgia Review.\u003c\/em\u003e He has won the Thomas Merton Center Prize for Poetry of the Sacred and The Theodore Dreiser Distinguished Research and Creativity Award. He’s a native of St. Louis and earned degrees at Grinnell College and the University of Minnesota.
